Case Study - Aero Sports Protection
Aero Sports Protection is a NZ company that designs and manufactures specialist sports protection equipment, particularly for the cricketing world. They are (or should that be were? Read on...) based in Aokoutere, just out of Palmerston North.
Until 2008, all of the company’s functions (design, operations, management and administration) were done from their Aokoutere offices. In 2008 though, Aero’s chief designer made a move to Tauranga for family reasons, and in the following year the company’s managing director moved to Auckland, again for family reasons. The business was now presented with a situation where their key staff were in three different locations, yet the business needed to continue to operate as efficiently as if the staff were all still working from the Aokoutere office. Using the revolutionary benefits of Voice over IP technology, C-talk was able to provide a phone system that gave complete integration between all of the staff in their three locations. Anyone calling in to Aero Sports would have no idea that the staff were in different locations. When a caller dials in, they get an auto-attendant menu where they can select who they want to talk to. Whoever they select, the call will go to that person’s phone extension, wherever they are located. Staff can transfer calls between each other, just as if they were in the same office still. When anyone at Aero makes a call from their C-talk phone, the call shows that it’s coming from the main Aero number, so a consistent and familiar Caller ID is given. Philip Bradley, Aero’s managing director says “The C-talk system has allowed our team to stay connected and operate productively. We are rapt with the outcome for our business, especially that this technology is so cost effective”. Cost-effective is probably an understatement. You might think that a system with this functionality would cost thousands of dollars, but the total setup cost for Aero’s system was only $550. And the C-talk phone service plans are very economic, meaning that the ongoing costs are very low.
