C-talk Help - Call Forwarding
Call Forwarding is a very helpful feature that can be used for a variety of purposes. It is very important to understand the 3 different call forwarding types:
Call Forward Always: This will mean ALL calls to your number are forwarded immediately to the number specified
Call Forward Unavailable/no answer: This will forward calls to the specified number under two conditions:
If your phone/line is rung for the specified number of seconds and not answered, OR
If your phone/line is currently un-registered (offline) - eg. if you have an internet outage
Call Forward on Busy: This will forward calls to the specified number if your line is busy/engaged.
To activate/adjust from the Web Portal: Log in to the web portal and click on the "Call Forwarding" link. You can
Activate/deactivate each of the forwarding rules
Adjust the number of seconds for "Call Forward Unavailable".
You can also specify that the Call Forwarding rules only apply at certain times by selecting a different time schedule from the drop-down menus. See the Time Schedules page for information about configuring the time schedules.
To activate using features codes (from your phone): You need to do this from the phone/extension you wish to forward These are the feature codes to use:
*72xxx Call Forward Always Activation *73 Call Forward Always Deactivation *92xxx Call Forward No Answer Activation *93 Call Forward No Answer Deactivation *90xxx Call Forward on Busy Activation *91 Call Forward on Busy Deactivation
Call Forward Unavailable and Voicemail If you use C-talk's voicemail system, using the Call Forward Unavailable feature will overide the voicemail system. So if you activate Call Forwarding Unavailable, and someone rings your phone and you don't answer, the call will be forwarded according to the Call Forwarding rule and will not go to voicemail.
If you don't use C-talk's voicemail system (eg. you use your PABX's voicemail), the Call Forwarding Unavailable will not interfere with your voicemail, and we recommend this configuration:
Have Call Forwarding Unavailable activated permanently to a mobile or other phone line for backup if your internet has an outage
Set the timer to a high value, such as 60 seconds, so that calls are not accidently forwarded while your system is online
