C-talk Faxmail Service Guide
The C-talk Faxmail service is a brilliant advance in technology, that allows you to both receive and send faxes through your e-mail. In addition, inbound faxes can be sent to multiple email addresses, increasing the convenience for your business.
Setting up your Faxmail service You must have a fax number with C-talk. If you do not, please email C-talk support and they will be able to help you get one sorted. If you have a fax number, to set it up you need to log in to the portal with your fax number and password (same password as the other numbers on your account).
Once logged in, click "Faxmail Delivery Options"
From the drop-down menu, select the option "The following email address(es) listed below"
In the box, write the email address you wish to receive your faxes on. If you would like faxes to go to multiple addresses, write each email address on a new line in the box.
You can change the fax attachment format if you wish, but PDF is recommended
(It is also possible to redirect your faxes to another fax number if desired, however this option is not reliable, and is therefore not recommended)
Once you have entered these options, click "Save Options"
Click "Faxmail Sending Options"
Now in the box, write the email addresses that you wish to be able to send faxes from.
When done, click "Save Options".
You can now close the portal
Receiving faxes Inbound faxes will be automatically sent to the e-mail addresses you setup earlier. There is no need to do anything else to receive faxes. NOTE: Some particularly old fax machines will not be able fax to the C-talk faxmail service. This is because they do not support more modern faxing standards.
Sending faxes
Step One: Preparing your document for sending You can send documents in 1 of 3
formats: PDF, Tiff or .PS (postscript) file. Make sure the document you wish to send
is in one of these formats, then you are ready to send
Step Two: Sending the “Fax” Create a new email message, and attach
the file to send
Now in the “To:” field, write the
“fax number”@faxmail.c-talk.co.nz
So, if you wanted to send a fax to the
number 07 555 2666, you would enter in the “To:” field:
075552666@faxmail.c-talk.co.nz
You can send to multiple fax numbers at
once, by adding more “recipients” in the same format as above.
When you’ve finished adding recipients, hit your “Send” button.
Step Three: Confirmation After you have sent the fax, you will
receive confirmation, either that the fax has gone through
successfully, or if there has been any problems.
Please note, that the service is not
100% reliable, and you may experience difficulty sending faxes to
some older fax machines.
